I can't believe what happened yesterday. Son No2 found his charging unit had died; I wondered what had tripped the electricity fuse earlier. Anyway, he was looking at how much it would cost for a replacement unit, when he knocked at least half a pint of coke (not diet!) over his laptop. I scooped it up and turned it upside down, but obviously not quickly enough. We turned it off, dried it off best we could, and hoped it would be OK. Today, once it had been left to dry in a warm place, he tried it out, but the keys do not work properly, so although it booted up, he could not log on. Obviously not a spill proof keyboard, although it was more a flood than a spill
Looks like we might be losing our 10% no claims bonus, but of course he's worried about what spec he will be offered if they decide to replace it. The closest we could find in RAM, processor and hard drive does not have a dedicated graphics card, which is important for the gaming (this model is 2 years old). Hopefully they might consider allowing him to pay the difference for a better model. Still, we can't do anything until Tuesday.
His hard drive will fit in his sister's computer, so he will be able to get all his uni work off quite easily.
