Sounds like an advert for the perfect couple mrs D! Good luck to you and long may it reighn!
Lol Snadger, not perfect by any means, both a little overweight, both skint, both work too hard, house needs a good tidy up (housework on hold whilst the good weather lasts and we can get as much clearing and sorting done on the plot, if we get a rainy day then thats when the housework gets done!) Mr Dobby's hair is receeding and mine is starting to turn grey! Life certainly aint perfect, but it is darn good!
My OH and me do our allotment together whenever work allows. We have a system; she says she'd like something and I get to do the work involved. Best way really; you should see her digging We're in the minority though, most allotments are rented by blokes.
Actually the blokes are beginning to get ounumbered down here! Some of them are fine about women working allotments, but some of them seem to feel threatened. Why!!!!!!
Eeehh! buy gum! that's life I guess! 40+ (well, a bit!) bit overweight, my OH going grey round the muzzle - and I've been grey since I was around 21! Such is life! DDL

I wonder if Women grow better vegetables.?. ...They supposedly make better fishermen (Women that is!) Something to do with feremones I think, the fish are more likely to bite a worm thats been put on the hook by a woman as opposed to a man! Maybe a turnip will grow better for a Woman than a Man?
Food for thought, isn't it?!!!!

look at it this way Snadgar, just keep cooking them for yourself and when he finds theres nothing else on offer he will come round. You must be firm.
I would be bl***y livid if other half turned into a man!

It's the other way round with us. Only my brother seems to be without gardening genes. He is in his late thirties and still lives with our mother who, at 73 still has to mow all the lawns. She's good with orchids. My dad was good with dahlias, and the plot (though lacked common sense when he sowed 3 rows of Webbs Wonderful on one day!).
The fishing bit never really worked for me until earlier this year when I went to the trout fishery at Pickering, N Yorks, (on my own!) I caught 13 fish on the sweetcorn (I didnt take my fly rods!). I was the only lady fisher that day - the other chaps were very nice and complemented my on my catch for the day! LOL First time ever though in 10 years fishing! DDL PS cant wait to go back!

I went fishing for the first time when I was 6 months pregnant. We were going mackerel fishing - what a rocky way down to the edge. I thought I got the hook caught on some rocks - it was actually a mackerel. I caught the first fish out of 3 of us (my hubby and his fishing (well reel enthusiast - Hardy's?) cousin)
Well, one of the top veggie show people is Mrs Sherie Plumb, reglarly wins & grows excellent Tatties. Her Daughter is doing well to (she's about 13 ish +/-I think)
I guess the main reason is you ladies have more time to do things than us blokes .. hang on just got to shout Mrs Grief, my cups empty

Fishing is something my Dad used to do, usually sea fishing, Mr D expressed a desire to try it a couple of years ago, so we got a couple of beachcasters and tried them out when we went on hols, both thoroughly enjoyed it, he caught the first fish, but we both usually manage to catch something for the barbie! Normally we only bother when we go on hols, as its a bit of a trek to the seaside from here, must say I fancy fly fishing, but the expense puts me off, as its something I dont think I'd have time to take up properly yet, so it isnt something we've tried yet. Perhaps one day......

Using light rods and dry fly fishing is the way to go! Not for me the heavy rods and weight forward lines, which punch a huge lure out to the far reaches!
Better with a light rod, double taper line, one or more dry flies on the end, and delicate presentation to a rising fish!
Less tiring and more in touch with our predatory instinct!
