I think you are doing great Kayleigh. At your age I had a herb garden and other than using the culinary herbs my folks weren't interested. We've had our allotment two years now and last year my sister joined in the growing things lark (ie other than a bit of mustard and cress for her son's school project) and really enjoyed it.

My little girl is 4 and is getting to grips with harvesting and eating. She also adores watering things especially with the hose and sprinkler head.

Mr E does his best and would like to do more but feels he doesn't have the time at the mo so I collar him every now and then to help with digging, spraying, etc and he lets me get on with the propagating, sowing and planning.

I don't moan at him cos that's not fair but he does tend to forget what I have told him about things. Probably because he's not doing.

...........wouldn't know a tomato from a cucumber unless I grew it and picked it for her - she has absolutely no interest in the garden at all - other then to ask me to get her fresh veg or herbs, or to pick some flowers for the house. ......
And my OH doesn't do the lawn or the digging, so c'mon ladies - I know it's in your genes, but stop moaning !!!

I've had my lottie for nearly 5 years now & MRs Grief came down Once & said it was lovely & peacefil but the chair wasn't very comfy So, I bought two new chairs (they cost me �3-50 each )& she still hasn't been back. The one time she came down she did point ouy I could grow some strawberries as she like them :rooleyes:

I think she's been in my new greenhouse about 3 time & never thinks to go & pick Tomatoes despite the fact she says they are nice to eat.

Reading this it looks like we are quite fortunate, as both Mr Dobby and I enjoy working down the allotment! I used to help my Dad and Nana in their gardens when I was ickle, and Mr Donny has always yearned to grow his own, so now he's finally got the chance he's loveing it! Both also enjoying the exercise, 1/2 stone and 2" from my waist have been lost so far, and it is sooo peaceful and destressing I cant help but wonder why we never did it before!

Anyone know where I can get a shrinkwrapper, because unless the veg aren't in a shrink wrapped polystyrene punnet, scrubbed clean, all the same size and preferably with a Tesco's sticker and date stamp, OH aint interested!

Don't get me wrong, he does try to help out now and then, it's just he's a total towny and he's better than most of his family - they're lovely but you should hear some of the stuff they come out with and his brother hasn't eaten anything but ping meals for years and then wonders why he gets migraines................ Anway, more of standing joke at our house, he doesn't know anything about growing stuff (it's nice to feel knowledgable about something by comparison!) and I don't understand engines, suppose it balances out and at least he's out cutting the grass at the moment.

Lol Snadger! My OH is happy to have me around, as I am him! We've been married for 6 years (come Halloween), have known each other for a further 6 months beyond that and still havent had even one argument! My OH and me do our allotment together whenever work allows. We have a system; she says she'd like something and I get to do the work involved. Best way really; you should see her digging We're in the minority though, most allotments are rented by blokes.

look at it this way Snadgar, just keep cooking them for yourself and when he finds theres nothing else on offer he will come round. You must be firm.
