I think you are doing great Kayleigh. At your age I had a herb garden and other than using the culinary herbs my folks weren't interested. We've had our allotment two years now and last year my sister joined in the growing things lark (ie other than a bit of mustard and cress for her son's school project) and really enjoyed it.
My little girl is 4 and is getting to grips with harvesting and eating. She also adores watering things especially with the hose and sprinkler head.
Mr E does his best and would like to do more but feels he doesn't have the time at the mo so I collar him every now and then to help with digging, spraying, etc and he lets me get on with the propagating, sowing and planning.
I don't moan at him cos that's not fair but he does tend to forget what I have told him about things. Probably because he's not doing.
