Reading this lot made me laugh! Then again the dear old Tabbard had and I suppose still has its uses!

Good ole Nora, was a bit of a cross dresser, here look she wasn't that fussy if it was a tabard, pinny, overall, she loved them all.

My Granny used to wear tabards, only I'm sure she called them pinnys!

I'm like Sarz though, rarely wearing anything so posh that getting a bit of soil or flour on it will matter! But I do have a posh Christmas apron
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Nan always had her "pinny" on in the kitchen or scullery as she called it.

My granny used to call it a kitchenette. Never understood that one, it wasn't a small room.?

Don't worry zazen I have a very clear image in my head.

Tabbard, or not tabbard - is that the question?

I'm with HilaryB, a Tabbard is a straight bit of fabric with a head hole and side strings to fasten it. Probably invented as one size fits all (unless you are exceptionally big or small, obviously). I was always lead to believe the others were Aprons or Pinnies, but I'm from Essex, so what do I know!

Hi Missus! Nothing wrong with us Essex peeps! How are you G4? I like your way of thinking about the one size for all, I recon the Tabbard is to blame for the start of that millarki! lol

Are you sure there's nothing you need to tell us, Mikey?

And, in answer to the question - Norah is wearing a pinny!!

                                God I love this forum.

10 hour day in the office, dealing with all the big banker bonuses that they are not supposed to get anymore, stress level at 110%, going cross-eyed with mental exhaustion.

Then I come on here to read a discussion on tabards.

Given me my first smile today, you mad b*****s.

                                Thanks!
