Sainsbury's also does a 3 for £10 offer. i look at the original prices and buy the most expensive ones. You get a nice warm fuzzy feeling when you realise you've saved £15 on three bottles. If you buy six you get an extra 5% off and when I've bought they've taken the 5% offf the top price.

Went to Tesco this morning after I finished nightshift.Loads of wines but too early to go to the wine aisle.
A while ago I found 2 red wines that I really like so I wrote the names somewhere. Now I can't remember where, except that it supposed to be "easy to remember"place.Typical...

just so you know this is one of the great rip-off's of our time!
marking up bad bottles of wine to then mark down!
The half-price wine 'rip-off' | This is Money
and i'm pretty sure the £3.99 for the wichita cove at tesco's is a rip off too!
i've been in a couple of stores looking for it, none of the stores had it, ended up buying a different and more expensive bottle of nz sauvignon blanc instead
which btw tend to be excellent wines for the price! just ten years ago and you were looking at £20 a bottle for the stuff!'Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? ' Douglas Adams

I work in the wines and spirits area for tesco(not management) and people like yourself can be sooo annoying!
I fail to see where because you could'nt find a particular bottle it means it is a rip-off.I can assure you that in our store we received a decent batch of this "W.... Cove" wine but when people buy in multiples then it goes VERY quickly.
Thnk of it this way,If you HAD found it then how many would you buy? 3/6/12? If most people do the same a standard supply cage/pallet will last no time at all.
That is why these special offers can run out very quickly.
I should'nt do but i get so annoyed with people on this site(and many others) who always see Tesco as some sort of big bad wolf(the childish spelling of tesco is one annoyance) and yet it seems every other supermarket is Ok.
Ok rant over,it's a sunny day here,it's a day off so time to chill

you should stock to meet demand
in tesco
or any other supermarket
i think it's fair to say that any multinational conglomerate, like tesco, doesn't have its customers best interests at heart, and is a lot more interested in how its bank balance is
which in the case of tesco is very very good
if you would like to go through your 'childish' grammar i can offer a helping hand! ;-)'Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too? ' Douglas Adams

Tut,tut, tut at no point did i have a go at you.The childish spelling i was refering to was when people call it t**c0 for example so as to avoid spelling it properly.
Of course tesco is out to make money.
However if commenting on my grammar is your standard of conversation then go annoy someone elseLast edited by stevemac; 22-04-2009, 10:48 AM.

I also work for Tesco on checkouts and people moan that we have run out of stock usually special offers, dont they relise people shop during the day and staff refill at night and before any one says 'why dont they refill during the day' thats because customers moan that stuff is in the way. so if you want the bargains you have to get up early. The saying ' The early bird catches the worm ' springs to mindGardening ..... begins with daybreak
and ends with backache

I phoned Tescos customer service to try to find this offer as my 2 local stores didn't have any more (I managed to buy 6 bottles though). When I explained the problem, the very helpful guy said that he knew about this wine offer and IT WAS A MISTAKE - and the stores had been told to withdraw the wine from sale.
The wine was really great and I was gutted that we couldn't find any more
For those who managed to buy it, you have a really good wine for a ridiculous price!
