Disappearing Greenhouse

No I haven't had a greenhouse nicked but what has happened is almost as annoying. Passing through a nearby village I noticed that a small bungalow was being demolished in order to build a bigger house. In the garden was a perfectly good aluminium greenhouse. It was in good condition with only one broken pane of glass. I asked if the greenhouse was wanted and even offered to pay a small amount for it. I was told by the guys working there that as they were not the owners they couldn't really say but that they would ask the owner of the site.

Yes you've guessed it. Today I went and there was what was left of the greenhouse in a skip. What a waste and such a shame. Apparently it was in the way and so was just driven over by the JCB and scooped up in its bucket to be dumped in the skip.

I've lost count of the number of greenhouses I've ridden and driven past, full of weeds, with mould and algae all over the panes.

I keep threatening to start a Greenhouse Welfare Society, to put an end to this appalling greenhouse abuse. Typical of some people today, I'm afraid. A friend asked me if I wanted a lemon cake the other day and I said no, as I'm trying to watch the weight. Instead of putting it out for the birds or asking someone else, she tipped the lot into the bin, without warning! Sheesh, if I'd known she was going to do that, I'd have said sod the weight!

What a shame- people are so wasteful aren't they, especially when you offered to take it off their hands!

I try not to throw away stuff if it can be re-used or given away, I actually feel guilty if i do throw something away when it can be recycled.
