Hi,
I was a member many years back. Scored 156 at age of 16 or something. Joined eventually whilst at one of my Universities....went twice to meetings, 5 years apart and at both squirmed at how awful it was. I just had nothing in common whatsoever with them other than being member of the same society. The last (aka second) meetig I went to, I met a lady at her first meeting and we became "kindred spirits" for the duration....she was embarrassed to be there too and we both escaped as soon as we could.
Stopped my subs as got nothing out of it and the magazine in those days was full of people wanting to have BM (British Mensan) as formal letters after their name (to match BSc and PhD etc) and the such. Truly awful stuff. It even had a young Raj Persaud writing columns and being touted as some super clever dude (and look at him now!).
IQ is just the ability to view tests with a logical eye and can be practised. Some people have the skill, others don't but they're not thicker, just not logically/laterally minded. It's all tosh IMHO.
