  • Regional (Kent) Chat

I am not sure if there are any sections for regions on the vine but thought it might be an idea for different areas to be able to chat and swop ideas specific for their own areas and weather etc.

I am in Sandgate in Kent, close to Hythe and Folkstone and I think it would be great to chat to anyone on the vine who might be in my immediate area. I think that the possibility of swopping 'spares' seeds cuttings etc or maybe seeing others lotties or gardens and swopping produce at harvest time would be great. I am sure that other regions would be interested in having a local thread too.

I have a seaside garden that my OH is helping me to renovate and turn into gardens within a garden. We have made a good start with a vegetable plot and we are setting terraces in and trying to make some level ground as it is very steep.

We have a 'wild' area at the top of the garden and are lucky enough to have quite a bit of wildlife visitors.

I love seeing other peoples gardens and have been fascinated by some of the enginious ideas used on allotments.

We love to visit gardens and have people visit to us. OH is a early retired chef lecturer so we also enjoy entertaining.

We have not joined any local garden groups but would like to be involved in something like that in order to meet up and learn from other garden enthusiasts.

So far with the Vine I have learned so much and had a good chuckle at some of the posts. All us newbies seem to have the same questions to ask and have often made the same mistakes. But most of all it is all good healthy fun with a carrot at the end (if we are lucky)

Would be great to hear some banter from others in Kent.

Can I join...I live in Surrey but only 100 yards from the kent border. So if i walk in the woods with the laptop I will be in Kent.

But Seriously there would be 1000s of Groups..would I be in the London Group as I am in a London Borough, Or Surrey cos I am in that County, but we are so close to Kent we feel Kentish.

      Lol, you can join.

I just thought it an idea...................might hold a coffee morning in the summer - that would make me work harder at getting the plot :-)

Why not start a Kent group on the social circles section....Im not on a complete downer, but we are really racking up the 'chat' threads and are trying to rationalise them....as NOG says we would end up with thousands of them.

Waiting for the world to wake up honey!!! It's very very early here [6.45] and Mr Z is sparko. The apartment is very creaky and I don't want to wake everyone up.

I might go for a walk in a bit with my camera.

Morning, lovely weather here in Kent. As it has been all week. Its marvelous to get on with jobs in the garden and all the seedlings seem to grown an inch every time I look away. All seems to be going to plan this season, I wonder how the weather will go on, I can remember previous years when bad spells of heavy rain and wind have arrived just as plants had matured and hardened off enough to stay on the patio only to be splattered and battered.

But it is nice getting all the plans into action at the moment.
                Expect everyone is busy.
