I love you guys, I really do.

Just got home from A&E, was there 5 hours altogether, but made me appreciate how lucky I am when they told me that there's been an accident on a local main road and a cyclist was fighting for his life and 2 people in a car were seriously injured. Put things in perspective.

Anyway, the good news is I'm not back in a cast I had to wait for an orthopaedic consult to check my x-rays against yesterdays, and the ones from the first breaks to make sure nothing had moved, which is why it took so long.
I had a good chat with him when he turned up, about why this keeps happening, and we've come to the conclusion that it's down to my already dodgy proprioception - my brain isn't very good at knowing where my feet are (part of the HMS).
And because I've gone so long not using this foot, my brain reeeeally doesn't know where it is... and so when I try and use it, it makes me stumble.

So I have to rest it for a few days to let it recover from the battering it had today, and then only hop around like before, until I get physio to teach me how to walk again. In the meantime I have to have lots of baths and try and get it moving in the warm water.

So gratetful for your good wishes and hugs, I was so unhappy earlier, reading this was like a big hug

So glad things are looking a bit better for you Sarzwix.
I understand the bit about your proprioceptors (have a degree in psychology). But that leaves the question about what is the underlying cause of that problem. It may just be that you have been off your feet so long.
In the meantime I think you just have to be extra careful, take your time with everything, concentrate on where you are putting your feet, get some physiotherapy and don't try to run before you can walk. Like everyone's been telling you - take it easy.
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
                        Night, night. x

have you thought to try hypnotherapy? not only will it help with the pain and healing, but more importantly a good hypnotherapist can help your brain reconnect so it remembers where your feet are and stops you tripping. PM me if i can give you any more info.

Nice to come across someone who knows about proprioceptors without explaining Alice
But I have always had dodgy proprioception, it's a recognised part of the hypermobility syndrome. I'm always bumping into stuff, falling up and down kerbs, cutting my fingers instead of the veggies I'm chopping, burning myself on the oven I can't touch my nose with my eyes shut either - if I'm under stress or tired, I'm so far off course I poke myself in the eye!

Anyway, it's an explanation that makes sense to me, and I can/will wait for some help from physio and occupational therapy to get me sorted out.
