I've been looking at the sports supports Wayne, but there's so many different ones, I don't know which would be most helpful I'm going to try figure of 8 strapping with a crepe bandage I think.

I have a splint that i got from the hospital after my ankle op, your welcome to it if you think it will help, a little uncomfortable to start with, more cause it feels different, i got this after they took the moon boot off, supports the ankle well whilst your building up the muscle again also for me anyway help me feel more confident about using my foot again

You may need to re glue the velcro on the sides and get new velcro straps to go round your leg. If you want it PM me your address and I'll send it off Asap

Aaaah, I've ended up a bit mixed up with who I'm seeing because the first op was under one consultant, and the second under a different one... I'm sure they were expecting too much by just taking the cast off and saying 'off you go...'
I'm wondering whether I should ask for another referral to Prof. Bird, the HMS specialist in Leeds...

the guy i had knew about HMS, he is in glasgow I was referred up there after ending up in local A& E after dislocation local orthos didn't want to touch it the head ortho there had only seen two other dislocation to the extent that mine was in his career ( lets just say he wasn't at the start of his career LOL).
The guy that fitted me for this splint said they don't get used very often, when I said that I had hms he said that will be why then, extra support for a while longer was his explanantion!
Mine was an op on ligaments rather than bone so might be worth checking with orthos, I didn't get physio after op but had several sessions before the decided to operate, they weren't to keen on operating as no guarentees and long recovery but touch wood have so much as sprained it almost two years on still lose my balance though and side step to re balance, mum and stacey usually panic when I do that!!

See how much it will cost to post it hun, if it's an arm & a leg I will wait and see what physio come up with. I'm only hopping til I see them anyway, and I know they have a couple of them trained about HMS now, which there wasn't a few years ago.

Poor Sarz, I've only just seen this thread. I hope you are in less pain now.
I have a friend with HMS and know that it is a daily battle for her. I know hypnotherapy was mentioned earlier, but I was wondering whether you had considered Reiki healing? I find it makes me feel amazingly 'connected'.
Love and best wishes
