Lol! I've recently been studying flu epidemics at uni and it really freaks you out how fast these things spread but until the strain becomes fatally pathogenic and can spread quickly between humans I'm not gonna worry about it...they probably still have vaccine from the last outbreak of pig flu which is also reassuring!

            92 degrees here today

It is usually 64 and the hottest it had been was 84 in the 1940s. Broke all records apparently.

I woke up with a sore throat and feeling like crap....it's got to be the weather and not swine flu............

Cooler tomorrow at 84 expected..... But back up on Tuesday.

I'm here on my own I think - we are staying in for another hour [7:40 here] until it cools down a bit more......I cooked tonight in our apartment and my goodness - it was hot - I had to lie down and have a cool shower after. There's no WAY I'm going across town tonight - so we are staying local in Greenwich Village and will go from Air con bar to another for a few hours. Kill or cure, as my old mate used to say...which means getting a bit worse for wear tonight in the hope that the hangover pushes the sore throat out the way.

If the Government had huge stocks of anti-viral to deal with it, then they must have known about it? Can't stock it overnight can they? So if this so called 'swine flu' is real and serious etc etc then an early warning would have been put out and measures put in place. Sorry, just don't buy the whole 'swine flu' pandemic rubbish! Not having a go at you Tony or anything [/QUOTE]

No, they didn't know about it, they hold the stocks of flu anti-virals all the time as they do here in France 'just in case' after all the hype about avian flu. They just don't want to be caught with anything like the pandemic of 1918/1919 so have the stocks ready and waiting.

Samwise: Do NOT listen to the 'flu lectures. I did and it scared me silly for about ten years. Cholera, Ebola virus, bubonic plague.... they're just academic, - and avoidable, but when they start telling you that you could set off for work feeling fine and an hour later, when the packed tube train empties, you fall over dead because the other passengers had been unknowingly holding your body upright until that point, and all you had was a strain of 'flu, then you start to worry... seriously worry.
My doctors agreed to give me a 'flu jab every year, not because I was elderly, ill or had any other health problems but because the 'flu lectures terrified me and I'd become truly neurotic. So, take my advice, if it says 'flu lecture on your time table, go to the pub instead.

PS, I got over it in the end and now wouldn't even bother with a Lemsip
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
