Wasps and bunnies - please help.

Hi

I am very much someone can please help me. To begin with i apologise if this is in the wrong place. I have two pet rabbits, who are spolit rotten, they have the run of a rather large shed which has been re inforced and made perfect for them. Anyway all around the shed, where the wood meets, there is tiny holes - about 0.5cm in width, 1 cm high and 1 cm long, we have see a wasp or two going in and out of two of the holes, my father in law poked one of the holes as it appeared to be full of brown stuff and it was full of this brown studd and yellow ooze (Best way to describe it sorry). I dont really want the wasps so close to my rabbits. Firstly can anyone please tell me what they are doing and secondly how can i get rid of them - deter them. All help is hugely appreciated - thank you.

Sorry Hun, if it was me I'd be miles away - oh, sorry, I am! I adore Wasps (in books, on telly) I think they and Bees are some of the most fascinating things, but I blow up like a balloon if stung (no bladdy help if you're a Gardener, I know!).

Hopefully someone clever will be along in a mo. Meanwhile, good luck (hat, visor, long sleeves).

I'm not sure exactly where you mean, if between the boards making the sides then you could try mosquito netting (or an old net curtain) that should block the gaps between boards and they'll naturally move elsewhere. If it's under the eaves where the boards meet the roof then just a batten around the edge with probably do it.

Are you SURE they are wasps, not bees?????
I can't think what would be yellow and oozy about wasps nests. Wasps invented paper, as a building material (on their scale it is equivalent to concrete for building a block of flats).
Unless the bunnies are likely to actually 'bother' the wasps, there is no real reason to worry. The wasps may be gathering wood to turn into their building paper.....

It is best not to try to wipe out wasps this early in the year. They are very useful, up to about July, when they run out of real work and start stealing anything sweet they can get at (like the jam out of your picnic sandwiches, or those slightly bruised apples still on the tree......)
At that state, they get to be a real nuisance.
