I would like one 55 years old...same age as I am.I know there ARE older tractors, but 1954 is quite old do you not think?
(If it's a youngun then so am I!)

Hi mr snadger i had one with a continental diesel engine i still have the link box i made to fit on the 3 point linkage so if you get one and need a link box and are down this neck of the woods it is your's for the fetchting .
You are a bit exposed on them when it is raining though another good reason for the box some where to carry stuff because there ain't nowhere on the tractor....jacob

One of my friends has put a Volvo Lorry Engine (Can't remember what) into a Massey - he's got a right big head over it, having got into all the Geek Mags, lol! He had a 6 page spread in Tractor and Machinery and he takes it to all the shows round here. You'd love it, Snadger! He's never tested it to full capacity - I think he's scared to! The bonnet had to be extended to accommodate the engine, but unless you know your Fergies, then you wouldn't know!
Of course, I drive mostly Fordsons meself. They're more my colour, speshally the Winch!

Reading this thread reminds me of the time old gal marley worked for a agriculural engineers (1982) and had not long passed her test .
She was at home one day having dinner and there was a knock on the door it was the engineer from where she worked saying i have Fred Days tractor broke down can you tow me up to the yard.
She had never towed before and said so was told you will be ok the towing vehicle was a VW transporter van that she had not driven either .
Any way away they go of like a rocketshe nearly shot him out of the seat each time she changed gear and the slack was taken up in the chain.
When they got to the engineers yard she just swings in and stops the man on the tractor was visibly shaking he said it reminded him of his motorbiking days with the wind blowing through his hair she has not been asked to tow anybody since i wonder why.
When she told me the story she was crying and took ages to tell me so beware....jacob
