I know how you feel! Didn't think mine were ever coming up! Now, what's your views on earthing up? When, how much, how often, how long for? This is my first year so reading books - and they all say different things!

This is my first year and I'm very excited that mine have started coming up. Some I've earthed up but obviously not enough as they were caught by a frost last week (I've heard this might spoil the crop?!)

Mt tatas keep popping up- only got so much space in the bag to fill with compost.

Gonna post some updated pics soon so people can see my progress- i am also a complete newbie at growing stuff but am really enjoying it!

                cor!!- they look great!!

Squizz....Don't worry about a bit of frost nip- they'll be fine so long as there wasn't too much damage!

I feel very inferior now as mine have only just come through! Mind you, North East Scotland is behind everyone else I've heard! And not just in gardening terms!

                    LOL

You wait- once they get going there's no stopping them- mine are going like crazy and theres only so much space left to earth them up

Well hopefully there won't be much time left for frosts to occur int he west midlands?! I'll have to keep an eye out for the weather!

                      ..and we are northern France!!!!

Our excuse is that we're digging up field - and were delayed by rain!!

As for earthing up...well - we earth up when planting- and then cover the tips until the end of May when the last frosts might nip them- we'll probably earth up a couple more times and then leave them be....

Thanks for the advice Nicos, I'll still be earthing up in September then if I've to do it until there is no chance of frost! We're forecast for snow on Friday. The joys!

                          Ahh..the joys of weather!!!!

My Earlies are just beginning to bud - they look somewhere between Jacob's two lots. My Maincrop (and Salad) only went in on Monday! I've got so many Earlies, it won't matter - should still ahve spuds for Crimbo at this rate!
