Its happened again!

Yup! Got up this morning to discover that one of my plastic greenhouse had toppled over again , we had really high winds last night up to 70m.p.h according to forecast so as well as bricks in the bottom I had wedged one of the wheelie bins in front of it with a couple of bricks on top as it was empty.
It was full to overflowing with seedlings some veg some flowers mostly at the ready to plant out stage but i am working for next four days and office have phone to increase work load so don't reckon thats gonna happen, am on a quick break just now so have rescued what i could and if I hopefully get a break this afternoon will repot what i can greenhouse is still laid flat full of compost.
Reckon next year I'll need to clear back porch and put greenhouses in there!

I hope you manage to rescue everything. Must be so frustrating having to go out and leave it like that. I bet happybunny will help after school.

Oh that must be soooo annoying. Can't you attach them to something? Mine have loops on the back edges, so they're cable tied to hooks in the fence behind. I hope you manage to rescue everything!

I had one of these years ago. I put a couple of screws into the side of the shed and tied it to them with wire to stop it blowing over.

My two are lashed to the window shutters- if they take off they'll take the house with them!

..famous last words eh??....hope you manage to recover all the seedlings..but it's a pain isn't it????- I'd sort of abandoned mine back in the UK using loads of cheap Ikea trays to move the plants about...but I've gone to inspect the trays before no only to find the small pots blown about the garden!!

She would but as I'm working till 6ish she had planned to cook dinner, have hers and leave mine ready as Friday is Girls brigade night and as soon as I getin its a rush up tp the church, problem is right know the kitchen worktop is covered in seedtrays and seedling having something to eat now then have about an hour spare before i go out again so hopefully will get most of them repotted.

Sorry to hear it's happened again. After my second time I rebuilt it in a shadier, but more sheltered spot. I was worried about it not getting enough direct sunlight, as the sun leaves it by 1pm, but things seem to doing ok in there. Good luck in your rescues.

Problem is, where I live is bad for wind comes off the sea Although Arran protects us from heavy snow and from the wind just whistles up the coast between Arran and us although I'm not on the shore front it gets bad the garden gets it bad, can't fix to back of house need access to gate and down drains in the way most of the fence on left isn't accessable as veg and flower beds next to it reckon my best bet is to try and come up with something thats not so high back porch has no window and solid door eventually when there is money HAHA! this will be replace with a glass one allowing light in no heat in there only single brick as its an add on to back of house, or just maybe I'll win on the lottery can move somewhere less windy or get a conservatory added!

I lost my 4 plastic greenhouses last night as well, was out in the back garden at 5am in PJ's and walking shoes trying to salvage anything. Lost my greenhouse yesterday due to the winds (it was quite old and I got it second hand but my toms are now homeless). Sorry but I'm now not tempted by the Estate for sale you showed me - imagine the winds there I'm off to the Seed Swap to mooch some replacement seeds Are you sure I can't tempt you with chilli or tom seedlings - Grushovka, Sweet Pea Currant, Brown Berry, Black Krim, Orange Banana toms? Can bring them with the Cape Gooseberry & Goji

Oh poor you! I do sympathise - had a phone call about an hour ago from my son to let me know that a tray of 30 petunias and cosmos were scattered all over the lawn. I've been using 3 of these greenhouses for the last 3 years and it's the first accident so I guess I've been lucky. Hoping I can salvage something when I get home but that won't be for a few hours yet.

Yup the wind would definately be worse on that island and you would be stranded in winter lol!
Stop tempting me Frosty! have no room thankfuly my toms were in the other greenhouse, think it was mostly flowers although as its the same lot that took a tumble the last time many are still unidentified! have manage to transplant a fair bit so will see if they survive greenhouse up again with extra bricks in the top wheelie bin in front with bricks on and clay pot at the side if it goes again I give up
now off to the clean the kitchen as covered in compost and HB is cooking tonight!!
