  • Garmin Nuvi - help needed

    Hi Folks,

Any of you got a Garmin Sat Nav? - the lane indicator one, something like a 655t?

It charges in my car but wont charge up in Mr HF's car (Astra) any ideas please.

On the bit you plug in to cigarette lighter there are two little led lights.
These come on which means (I guess) there must be power getting there, just the sat nav goes flat after about 30 mins! It works perfectly in my car though!

    Any Ideas please

I haven't got that gadget, but I have got a phone charger which has those little lights on. One light means power getting to the plug thingy, the other one means it is going on from there.
My guess is that in the Astra the lead is getting kinked, or pulled or something, and therefore the power is not getting through. Try wiggling the lead about a bit.
My satnav (a different type, and probably inferior) the battery indicator shows whether it is receiving power from the lead. There is a tiny battery symbol, which shows how 'full' the battery is when using battery, but when plugged in, it shows full, with a tiny 'plus sign' inside.

Another thought, on some cars the cigar-lighter is 'live' all the time, on others it switches off when the ignition is off (we have a Skoda, which is always on, and a Renault which only works when ignition is on). Could this be part of the problem?
