Not the pretend name I know, but I always loved the sound of "aquilegia"...think I was just dead proud that I knew what one was when I was little???,although still think it has a cool sound to it!(BTW...although I can say it,not so sure I can spell it???)

It's from aquila - the eagle (not aqua, water as people sometimes think) - and the individual petals of the flower are said to resemble an eagle's head. With the eye of faith, I think they do!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

There is a type ofyellow flowered vetch sometimes called "egg and bacon". I think the name comes from the reddish sreaks on the newly-opened flowers, which could look a bit like a streaky rasher, if your mind works that way......Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

It's Lotus corniculatus Hilary. Makes me think that The Lotus Eaters all loved their fried breakfasts!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
