The may tree or hawthorn is the first tree name I can remember learning, when I asked my mother the name of the white may flowers.

As children, we used to call this tree Sore Eyes - I later learned as an adult that it has some reputation for being good for psoriasis.

The may tree is also called 'mother of the heart' - I guess you'll have guessed by now that I love the may.

And - it's here already (may is out!).

Sorry folks mine has nothing to do with gardening. I've 3 Springer Spaniels and quite a few folk call me Susie and the Spangles - hence I call myself Spangles

I'm sure we've done this before on another thread...mine was the name of our little family...Bobbie (me), Elizabeth (OH), Plunkett (cat), Harvey (dog), Luka (dog), Alfie (cat), Macleane (cat)....hence Bephlam.

Of course, since we made this name we have added another dog and 5 chickens...so it's every evolving.
I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about!!

I remember a similar thread ages ago, but it's really interesting to read about the newbies to the site.
Dexter is my dog (he's on the photo), and we live in Lancashire and I'm very proud of that.

PS on the photo was my first real attempt (3 years ago) at gardening and I turned my back garden into a veg garden. I'd just sorted out that particular patch of land, perfect soil and all that, I may add.........and Dexter came and sat on it all, looked at me as if to say "There you go, very comfortable - try moving me!" Its my favourite picture of Dexter and always will be!

Sorry to hijack the thread - but how did grapes choose their avatars?
