Well, we went looking at the Food Processors today, I dragged Mr D all over the Trafford Center, as Debenhams had a 25% OFF sale on!

I found plenty to look at, including the whole of the Magimix range! After checking every one elses prices on a whole range of brands, we decided to plump for a Magimix of some size, won over by the quality, even tho they are a bit more pricey than we wanted to spend! We were a little slow getting into Debenhams, and they had none of the 3200 or 4200 in silver, but did have 10% off the 4200 in white! We were very tempted, but they only had the display one left, so left to have a think.

Made our way to Selfridges to see if they would price match, nope, so then onto John Leiws, who said they would if they could confirm it! Unfortunately they would only do it on the white one too, so we left them for a think, and decided to go back and get a Magimix 3200, but as we approached the sales person Mr D smiled and said, 'Go on then, get the 4200, in silver, its the one you really want isnt it?' So, I have our Yule Prezzie, tho thats going to be it this year, nothing else as it was a lot more than we really wanted to spend, but we both thought it was worth spending the extra to get the quality and size to cope for the future!

Have to say, very happy, its sitting pride of place on my worktop, cant wait for a chance to give it a good work out, unfortunately didnt get chance tonight as to fit it in meant a full rething of all storage in the kitchen, which took us 4 hours to do and it was a little late to start playing then!
    Blessings

That's great Mrs D. I'm getting basics this year as Mr E is buying me a greenhouse for my birthday unless my folks get there first!

Glad you like it. It's a beaut isn't it. Hope you get many happy years from it.

Thanks for not replying Tigger and Piglet, but it would appear that, having done a google search, a vitamix is nothing but an overpriced blender, ie it only 'blends'. It does not grate, slice or do any of the other functiions that a food processor does. At something approaching £350 for a "blender", there are infinitely more adequate, if not superior pieces of kitchen equipment on the market.

Many appologies Valmarg, I didnt know what one was really. I am going for a bamix though, they sound rather useful.

                Food Processor

Extremely sorry piglet. I didn't mean to be nasty, and reading my posting I think I was more amazed at the extortionate prices of the vitamix, for just a blender.

Have been looking at the exhibitors at the NEC on www.bbcgoodfood.co.uk

Bamix are there under the name Proven Products. Magimix are also there.

                Have a wonderful day.

It's nothing like an over priced blender. As well as being an excellent blender/chopper/etc., you can put raw veg in and get cooked soup in 4 minutes, or fruit and ice in and make sorbet in 40 seconds, or fruit, cream and ice for icecream in a minute.

It makes cooked sauces from raw ingredients and a whole host of other things. We use ours at least once a day.

The power is the size of the motor. Perhaps you need to take another look at the website Valmarg.

Had never heard of them and looking at the web site, for me it would be a waste of money as I wouldn't get enough use out of the features that Tigger mentions above. Sounds very powerful and all that but for me it would be far more than I need - however it sounds like if you can use it like Tigger then you can justify the expense. As with so many things it depends what spec you need, not point in buying a top of the range car if you only go out once a month to the corner shop.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Yep Tigger, taken another look, and it's just an overpriced blender. Perhaps their marketing people should make it more attractive, but a £400 blender is way OTT!!!!
