I spent the extra hour curled up in bed trying to shake off a cold.
It seemed to help and I had enough energy to see me through the day. Unfortunately it did not involve going to the allotment as we had a pre arranged lunch date for my sister in laws birthday.
Hopefully it was not the last good weather to coincide with a weekend as there is still lots to do.

Totally decadent am I. Just spent the extra hour reding the Sunday papers and having a leisurely Sunday breakfast. Then as it was such a lovely day, went for a drive up Loch Lomond and Loch Fyne. The autumn colours were just glorious in the sunshine. Had a late lunch in Inverary - lovely setting for a town, right on the edge of Loch Fyne, and called in at the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar on the way home to buy some goodies. Bought some seeds for next year. Courgettes - Defender, somebody recommended them, think it was L J and some American Land Cress Oh and some Scottish Garlic. Will plant some of that and let you know how it gets on. All in all - a lovely day.

Thanks L J. Will give them a whirl next year . I was really disappointed with Gold Rush. Got a good crop and they were very early BUT totally flavourless. We live and learn and it helps when we can learn from the experience of others. Thanks again.

Turned the alarm clock off, and was absolutely determined to have a lie in. Guess what? Awake at normal time - 6 am (5am now the clocks have gone back)
Still it was a lovely day, sunny and dry with a bit of wind. Cleared two borders of weeds, moved the guinea pig run to another bit of lawn and decided that they're really not pulling their weight - had to get the lawnmower out. It's been so warm and wet the lawn's going mad. Took ages to get it cut. Mowings in compost bin which is now overflowing. I was a really good girl and cleaned the mower before I put it away.
The garden is now looking a lot tidier, greenhouse is cleared out, apart from one pot of chillies which are still ripening. All scrubbed, tidied, and looking very empty. Several trays/pots of seedlings, but it seems very bare.
Come spring I'll be moaning that there's not enough space!
All in all a good weekend.

We had OH's parents and my daughter over for the weekend, so no chance to get down the plot, but did have a nice meal and watch a good film together (Monty Python's Life of Brian) on Saturday evening (with a bottle or three of chardonnay). Then used the extra hour to make a huge cooked breakfast yesterday and off for a good walk up at Alderley Edge (to work off all those calories), all of us plus Bella in such beautiful woodlands! I love the colours at this time of year!
Today woke up with bad / stiff back, think its a lack of exercise, so done some stretching and we are off down to the allotment for the day, tho I'm going to take it easy as I dont want to push it and end up with any damage, especially when we are on holiday this week!
Supposed to have my Mum coming over from Corfu, but cant get in touch with her, I know she was trying to get a flight for tomorrow, but I havent been able to speak with her since Thursday, so think she may well have decided to drive over and may well be on her way!Blessings

This weekend is our bank holiday weekend here. The last one before christmas. Did'nt do anything special as the weather was very dull and dreary on Sunday. Had my mam for the day on Sunday and babysat for a late night for my daughter and husband as they were goung to a fancy dress club.
today was a far better day. Tidied out the greenhouse. Remade my apple jelly which did set this time. Made a last batch of herby potato and tomato soup and am now off for dinner.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Have you managed to contact your mum yet Mrs Dobby?
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I slept and dreamed I had a huge plot which involved tractors, but also had a dead drastic hair job of the badger look which worried me desperately. I think I had to save the world once or twice too. Pretty exhausting.
I was deeply relieved to wake up. After that had a glorious day ignoring all work. Went foraging. Came back with plenty of Sloes. Wild Damsons and deep red Haws. Cooked massive home made everything feast for friends and assorted children, new puppy etc. Manic chaos, good fun, tottered off to bed yawning head off. Sometimes I love my life.Washing up mountain this morning not so charming. Ignored it. Didn't go away though.:

Fortunately she's someone we both get on with so no probs with her staying as long as she wants! We did have a falling out about 10 years ago over something or other that meant she didnt see me for about 3 years, but just before she emigrated to Corfu she eased up and that meeting was great, like we'd never fell out at all! Nowadays we have a great relationship, sometimes I think you need to have a falling out with parents in order to get a proper adult relationship, or that just may be me! lol!Blessings
