  • Is it fate? Non garden related.

    I'm gutted.

Probably my all-time favourite band Pearl Jam are playing at the O2 in August this year. Surely fantastic news right?

    Well.

For a number of years I was a signed up, paid for member of their fan club. However, when Hayden was born I decided to cancel my membership on the basis that they only seemed to send stuff about their tour in the US, or vinyl discs - stuff that was of no use to me. It also seemed that they'd never come to the UK...

Anyhoo - they recently announced that they'd be coming to the UK (for a couple of dates), and one of those was the O2. Tickets were initally released for fan club members!!

I quickly tried to re-sign up, but I was too late.

General release tickets went on sale on the 8th - do you think I could get any!? Bob and No.

There are tickets available on some sites I've seen, but the cheapest is £80. I can't afford that.

    Just feeling sorry for meself.

I was chatting to my best mate the other day and he was telling me the face value of an FA cup ticket this year is £93.00, extortionate or what. So even if all the tickets were that price and there will be many which are more, the FA are looking to recouperate 8 million on that one game, not including the food, drinks, programmes etc.

Pearl Jam, shucks what a shame, that would be a good night.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

          Bummer Wayne
Have you got your birthday in between now and then? Or could you blag it as an early Christmas pressie? It's a once in a lifetime really isn't it?
I went without stuff to see The Verve in Blackpool, and it was sooooo worth it. If I wasn't broken, I'd be wondering how to raise the money for Pearl Jam too....

I once did a project in college, in a wheelchair, going around the city of Cardiff to see how user friendly the shops were. We called into the theatre under the disguise that we were going there on the weekend to see a band, I don't remember who it was, but they showed us to a box up in the roof amongst the lights, that was where they put the wheelchair users.

I can believe that Mikey, it's a wonder they didn't just refuse you entry at all though saying you'd be a fire risk!

That's a real shame Wayne about Pearl Jam, sods law isn't it that you just cancelled your membership. I'd try what Sarah suggests & ask for tickets as a present for anything you've got coming up, anniversary, Hayden's 6 month birthday (), early Christmas etc.
Slightly cheaper tickets available for the MEN arena concert (from £65) but then you'd have the cost of travelling up there as well. Here's a link, they also have the 02 but they're all over £80 as you say.

O2 is notoriously expensive. My Spandau tickets were £65 each! Then they add on all the little extras...

Have you tried looking on Absolute Radio website and similar? Sometimes they offer tickets separately and also do competitions nearer the time.

I sympathise with you on this, I had similar trouble with the Bruce Springsteen gig.Gave up in the end!
