Blackpool- Better than Paris!

Don't know if any of you have seen this but apparently Blackpool is marketing itslef to the French as a desirable holiday destination! Don't get me wrong, it's great for a day out for a laugh but it needs a lot of work before it becomes an international holiday resort & after watching the lovely film they've made for the ad. campaign I think a few people might be disappointed. Hmmmm... I think disappointment awaits...! I can't bear Blackpool myself, I'd rather go to Clevelys!

We went for a week a few years ago. It was a complete dump, and an expensive dump at that. The zoo's not bad but the best thing about Blackpool itself is the seafront, and yes, you guessed it, it's a dump.

They can pour as much money as they want into the Talbot Gateway, but if the rest of the town is tatty and tacky, it's not going to do much good. I honestly think it would have been better had they got the whole super-casino thing, as at least most of the nasty seafront bit would have been knocked down!

If we do go on the coast down there, we head to Cleveleys (where Mr OWG's nanna lives) or Lytham/St Annes as the beaches are nice for dog walking...

I do believe that if you go on Blackpool beach you will definately see evidence of dog walking.

I wouldn't be visiting either location. When I go on holiday I want to see rather LESS people around me (most of the time) not more! I am not a city lover.
