We took our Japanese student to a boot fair this morning, to see 'English rubbish'. They bought a load of disney videos, ones DD had missed getting when she was younger. They are now munching on doughnuts and having a film fest.
They WERE going to help me in the 'allotment' garden, http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...den_32439.html, but its pouring down now, much to DD's delight . I can't go now even if it clears up, as I'm visiting Mum in hospital, but it's so annoying.
We got a bit cleared now, and I wanted to plant out some tomatoes, cabbage and celeriac. They've been hardening off in my garden, and have withstood the wind, so they should be fine in the 'allotment' garden, which being in town is much more sheltered.
Mind you it's been tough, the guy said no thistles or nettles, well he's got both, plus cleavers, dandelions and docks. That's besides the shrub roots that were concealed in the undergrowth. It's taking a lot longer than I thought, and I've got peas, beans and courgettes champing at the bit! We've started taking the weeds straight to the tip after each session, 4 bags last time, and we could only do 2 hours The bindweed roots look like white alien worms, so thick and convoluted.
