  • When Will it Stop Raining?

I've managed to plant out some tomatoes, re-pota few cuttings and then run around the garden to check everything else in between showers (Thank God for our Wilkies gazebo as featured in this month's GYO mag)

The lawn has gone berserk, and I want to drill holes for new hanging basket brackets. And I'm sick of being inside.

When will it stop slinging it down? Have we had summer do you think, as it was like this this time last year?

I was watching Chelsea flower Show preview this am: one exhibit is a water grden in the front complete with raised path.

If the rain keeps on like here - and Metcheck say next 7 days, it will not be a raised path we will need. We will have a moat and no drawbridge..

Which is an idea. Do I qualify to be an MP if I have a moat..? It will need dredging..

My kids have just come in from school, looking like drowned rats.

I'm beginning to feel like that Welsh comedian, the one who said he was about 12 before he realised you could take a Kagool off!

I want to go sow salad leaves seeds, spring onions and other salad crops, but my seeds will get washed away before I'm finished. My pea twigs have blown away into the pond.

It's raining again here now after a dull but dry day. It's not the wet so much as the wind I mind!

I think you should travel west for about an hour and a half, and come and plant some seeds for me too, its dry here you know, and I've plenty of space to accommodate your seeds and I'll even lend you some twigs.

Was it Rob Brydon with the kagool, I think you've adopted him he's been in London for quite some time now, probably doesn't even own his own kagool anymore.

Rhod Gilbert. I looked him up. He does Mock the Week sometimes, and an ad for Welsh tourism.

Mikey, I would head for Wales given the chance I kid you not. I loved it. We only drove down the coast road through Swansea, but it looked lovely. And, if we moved to Wales there'd be a chance I'd get into a choir. I'm 50th on the waiting list for the choir of my choice.

Only Men Aloud have a lot to answer for! I bought tickets for my Dad's birthday and we saw them at the Colston Hall in Bristol last month. I say 'saw' but muggins here left her glasses at home so everything was blurry. It was brilliant though.

                            I know Why it Rained.....

...nothing to do with weather fronts.

We bought a garden soaker hose from our £££ shop. When everything was bone dry the other day OH attached the soaker hose to the normal hose, and zig-zagged it carefully over the top of our raised bed frame so that it hung over the sides and the water would catch the spud pop-ups and the strawberry troughs.

Then he went to the garden tap and turned it on full blast. So......you know how there's a delay whilst the water teavels the length of the hose? OH turns on the tap, then goes to stand next to the soaker hose to see how well it works..........................................20 seconds later he's soaked right through to the skin and dancing about cursing because the water was freezing. Yep, it works!

Anyway, well-watered garden and husband. So it then rained - Sod's Law.
