Think Nick recommended a book the other week, you may be able to find it on a search or perhaps he'll post it again?????

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

My sister just bought me "The Allotment Book" by Andi Clevely loads of good pics, clear instructions covers just about everything including some preserve recipes, sloe gin etc. Absolutely brilliant!

Agree about 'The allotment book', it's really good & I haven't even got an allotment! It's on offer in a few shops at the moment, I can't remember if I've seen it in WH Smith's or Waterstones but you can get it discounted in various places.Bob Flowerdew's books are good as well, 'Organic Bible' & 'The no work garden'.

              Hi
I'm lucky enough to review books for a living, is it any help if I flag up new allotment/ veg books, there are quite a few new allotment titles coming in the new year and I do try and read all of them - naturally!
Reading a lovely one at the moment from Terry Walton (from Jeremy Vine's Radio Show) recording fifty years on his allotment.

That sounds good. Although I don't like the JV radio show I often listen in when Terry is on. I would reckon he has got some good stories to tell.

Whats it called and when is it out? I'm a radio 2 devotee and its always entertaining and informative when Terry is on. (which isn't often enough)

                    Hi
Terry Walton's book is called My Life on a Hillside Allotment, 12.99 Bantam Press published on 5th April 2007
Its very good on the history of allotments, he's been at it for over 50 years, and lots of interesting stories of allotment developments from when he was a child then through the doldrums of the 60's and 70's to todays upswing.

Hi Bex, I'm with Nick on the Joy Larkcom book - it's an absolute mine of information! Can't recommend it highly enough.

I also like Delia's Kitchen Garden - I expect people will disagree with me here as it's quite basic on the gardening stuff - but as a novice it's helpful as it gives month by month details of what to be doing in a kitchen garden - plus it has some nice Delia recipes
If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.

I think tha the Garden bit was written by Gay Search wasn't it BB. So I would expect it to be OK - she's nearly as good as me

Yes Nick, Gay Search... didn't realise I was admiring another guru. I feel better about that recommendation now
The photos in that book are lovely too and seasonal recipes!
