  • Monty Don - what a nice guy....

    BBC News Story

Monty Don and his drug addicts... (see link)

I thought this was a really great story. Not only is he helping the community, he's promoting "growing your own", and helping drug addicts

    What a nice guy!

He's not exactly my favourite as a presenter but you've got to respect anybody who gets involved in something like this, maybe not the most fashionable of causes but wholly worthwhile and looks like it's had a good success rate, only a realtively small number so far but looks promising if they can get the other schemes going.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I think he's a greatguy. He comes across as someone who's full of compassion.I suppose because of what he himself has been through he's a good candidate to do yhat kind of programme.

Seems nice enough and it's a good project. I liked fork to fork. GYO and cooking combined. Bliss!

I just think he's great - such a genuine and compassionate person. I thought the article was superb and wish him much luck with the project - not the easiest of subjects to tackle.

I enjoyed watching him on GW last night, specially as it was mainly about veg! Did like Alan, but never really got the chance to watch it until recently!

Never heard of fork to fork. Was it a gardening or a cookery or a gardening programme and what channel was it on please?

It as on channel 4(sponsored by Seeds of Change) and was a gardening and cookery prog combined. Ie here's how to grow it and some things you can do with it when it is in season. Sparked a bigger interest in Mr E and myself.

I liked 'Fork to Fork' as well Eartbabe, used to make my mouth water! I've got the book somewhere I'm sure, I must try & find it. I like Monty (nearly as much as Alan) & sympathise with him on depression (had it mildly myself) & the fact that getting outside & involved in growing things is good for anyone. Nice to see him putting his ideas in to practice with young addicts/offenders & even if it only helps a few it will have been worth it.
