He got me giggling aswell Mrs D, he certainly will have to do some manic thinning out.

It did seem better than yesterday maybe because I thought of it more as a cookery programme. Got me wanting some lemon verbena for my herb bed.

To be honest I didn't think much of it at all .It was to me advertised as a gardening programme but seemed to come over more as a cookery programme/look at me I'm a celeb/I lead such a busy life type of programme. I dont beleive his quote to the effect that he hasen't got a gardener either.Very little in the way of gardening and little more in the way of cooking.
      Overall poor show.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

hey everones entitled to thier own oppinion so im soz if i came accross as a tad overprotective yesterday....i just really rate the guy, i mean all the other chef's who have done programms which are similar dont get as much flack. yeah the title of the programm can be misleading but i guess if no one knew him as a chef then i can see why ur peeved. i think his enthusiasum is infectious though for food and for his garden and the lettuce sowing was peculiar lol... but wait till tonights episode... the tomato planting is hysterical..see lol i will convert ya all into liking the guy haha

Hi Fudgelover! I haven't had chance to see the programme but I love Jame's cooking especially when he does good no nonsense British dishes. In fairness to James the newsletter from UKTV Food does say that he hasn't got a clue about gardening and growing vegetables. We all have to learn don't we?

thats true lesley jay we do all have to learn, i think he is doing a grand job but then i am biased lol. like i said in my first msg im sure he raising the profile of organic food and if 3 of his fans go and start buying locally grown food or grow their own then he is achieving something plus his food looks fab i try and do one of his recipies every week...

                Seems a nice enough lad.

I did find the program lighthearted- I think even 'Sarah the coat' was bemused by him!!

The only thing which concerned me a little was that anyone else new to gardening might copy his sowing/planting out methods of lettuce and radish.
Never seen clumps of about 30 radish growing before
and the thought of all those lettuce seeds
That memory is going to stay with me each time I sow lettuce now!!!!!
(for those of you who missed it- he tipped about 2 packets of seeds per 5ft row,and did about 6-8 rows all at the same time - a few thousand plants ???)

Might have been prudent to have had some guidance there-esp as the program was intending to encourage a bit of GYO. Would be a pity to put other people off if their 1st attempt failed.
Otherwise...fancied a bit of that salmon in sorrel and pea sauce !!
"Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple

                Location....Normandy France

lol yeah the seed sowing was a disater...but later on in the series charlie dimmock pays him a visit and tells him he has let his lettuce go to seed....so i think she has mended his ways. as for working for james lol no i dont i doubt he'd realise i was there he is 6'4" and im 5'0" lol. if you want his autograph you can buy one from his website (he look yummie in the pics there) its www.jamesmartinchef.co.uk its under renovation at the mo but his pics are in gallery.

Unfortunately didn't see last nights prog, hopefully will see tonights, won't see for rest of week as off for a d***y weekend with OH to straford upon avon! I'm sure that the progs are going to be good. Sorry James, I was just disappointed it wasnt more gardening than cooking. (Just because I'm an enthusiastic newbie to all things growing veg I think everyone else should as well!) Love all the other programmes you do - especially the Yorkshire ones! DDL

He has a deli in Winchester. It features in his cooking programme sweet I think. Have been there several times. Saw him once from a distance. Fantastic eyes.
