  • Pea and Pod @ 19+4

The good news is everything is going very well. Am feeling them move albeit not Pea very often but the 20w scan on 9th June should confirm that the placenta is at the front and so cushioning any kicks, meaning I dont feel them too well.

The not so good news is that as well as being too busy/tired to be able to get on here as often as I like I now also have developed SPD (symphis pubis dysfuntion) which was I knew would be a fair certainty but not quite so early on. For those not in the know, pregnancy softens the ligaments in the body and if your pelvis tends to move too much or at an awkward angle, it becomes very painful. I avoided crutches or wheelchair last time and I intend to do so again - at least this time I dont live in a flat, up three flights of stairs. With good management the pain should remain manageble, even with the added weight and bulk of twins. I just have to be ladylike and keep my legs together (I know, I know...its a bit late for that LOL) but I have to do such tedious things as; get in the car by sitting and swinging both legs in together, get dressed whilst sitting down, go up stairs ONE at a time, avoid lifting or pushing and rest as much as possible - however bad the house gets - oh blow there was me going to change the weather by being a domestic goddess!!

The plot is taking shape at long last, thanks to some VERY hard work by Mr Dandy. Joe (the friend who helps us in the garden two hours a week) couldnt do his slot with us this week but offered to make the time up over the weekend. I was going to say he could have the week off but seeing as I am meant to be taking it even more easy and literally CANT do much to help now, we have asked him to help Mr Dandy on Saturday afternoon.

The best news though is Redthorns news, so pleased for him and his better half!

Will be in touch with more news as and when it develops,

Lots and lots and lots of love to you all, dear friends

Take it easy Tammy, let your O.H. take the strain garden wise & housework wise if necessary (personally I'd live in a tip if I was in your condition!).Hope everyhting goes well, is that problem you have becoming more common nowadays, I've seen a couple of pregnant ladies on crutches recently?

Commiserations with the SPD mate, it was something I had too, and was worst with #3. But I only had one in there It'll all be worth it in the end though Tis only a few weeks really, and you already know the ways to cope with it, so hopefully you should be able to avoid the dreaded crutches
It might be worth borrowing a wheelchair for any time that you have a lot of walking to do though... Keeping moving is one thing, overdoing it is quite another

Glad the pregnancy is going well, you have my sympathies re: SPD as I had it with my second. Getting in and out of the car, bath up steps was a nightmare. It lasted after having my son too, I almost did the splits when cleaning the kitchen floor 6 months after and the pain was like no other so be careful afterwards too.

can you get physio, I know some Health Authorities will give you some each week to help.

                      Make sure you rest plenty!

                          Ahhhh....lovely!

                          Lovely news about your babes.

I found the bath really helpful with SPD, we had an old knackered but huge victorian size bath back then and it held so much water I could nearly float. Although getting in and out took quite a lot of huffing & puffing. The last three months were wheelchair ones though. Thankfully this was with #4, who was the biggest, and we didn't have any more after Sam.

                          Good luck!

I'm glad to hear that all is well overall, though the SPD sounds really not a lot of fun.

I reckon that whole 'Domestic Goddess' thing is vastly overrated anyway

                            Take good care
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
