I was a member of a political party(some grapes know which one) for 27 years & would never force my opinions on others as that is the best way to lose friends. I think politics(& religion) are best kept off this forum.The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Sorry- can't comment on the threads deleted as not seen them- BUT I am well aware that to try not to offend the majority- you keep well away from politics and religion!!!

Its a gardening forum (faints). I have thought for the last two years I was stuck in a web version of a reallity tv show.
Political debates, like religous ones always bring out the worst in people as its all very personal.
So the best way for us all to stay friendly is to keep that stuff off the agenda, just like Zazenspace1999 says.

No probs with you banning political threads but don't understand why you've banned these as oppose to many others. Didn't see these ones so there may have been something in them that was worse than others but it does sound a bit strange.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

It depends on whether it is discussion or campaigning...the discussion ones get out of hand often and are often closed for this reason.

Personally I would ban discussions about football and any talent show, like Britains' got talent and X factor, but because they are boring.
Not sure how religion and politics is supposed to cause heated arguments, the churches are empty and less than 50% will vote on Thursday!
