Beautiful pics Alice! Thanks for sharing them - I just love this time of year.
Unfortunately our begonias in containers were gonners in the frost we had so I pulled them all at the weekend - but they were still going strong until then.
I'm just pleased today that I can see some Autumn colours around here again - I don't know about the rest of the country but we've had 2 days of the most horrendous fog At least it cleared today...I could see the rain and grey clouds for milesIf you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.

Lovely pictures Alice and what great colours. Is everthing a bit late this year? I always visit Peebles the last weekend in October every year and just love the colours of the trees, but this year everything was looking rather green!~

In another thread Alice you said you hadn't won many prizes!
I think you are really, really, really lucky to have views like those from your doorstep and they are one of the best prizes you could have!

Wonderful pics of a lovely garden Alice! Many thanks for sharing them with us all!
Autumn is my fave season of the year, I love the colours as the leaves turn from green to gold to red/brown, fabulous! Always make sure that we get out for a walk up at Alderley Edge over the Halloween period, the colours and falling leaves are fab, especially when the weather is as good as it has been recently!Blessings

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. We always think of the garden as a spring garden when all the rhododendrons are flowering,I've posted pics before, but it is rather good in Autumn. We started the garden from practically nothing about 25 years ago. In the depth of winter I'll try to post some before and after pics.
Yes Jennie, I think things are a bit later this year. At this rate of progress I'll be raking leaves in December !

Those are beautiful Alice. Thank you. There isn't much colour around here (unless you count the strange yellow that the next door house is painted), the pear tree leaves seem to be going mottled yellowy and then falling off. Not too many on the lawn since I dumped a load on the border and the rabbit is eating her fair share. Bless her.Bright Blessings

What beautiful colours you have in your garden, ours is looking a bit sad and dull now that the last of the summer bedding has gone, I'm dead jealous
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Winter flowers
Glad you all enjoyed the autumn colours. I took this pic of the winter flowering viburnum from upstairs this morning. It flowers all winter and is beautifully scented.
I have winter flowering helebores which flower from November til May but they haven't started yet this year. I'll put a pic on when they get going.

Alice, the variety of colour in your pic is fab. A great mix of shrubs. Looking forward to seeing more of them.
Really must try and post some of mine.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I have an allotment which sits atop a Dene. Here are a few of the pictures I took when I went for a wander around the Dene earlier in the Summer.
I am a little bit biased but do feel this is truly a captivating secret place which is set in one of the most deprived inner city areas. Just goes to show that every cloud has a silver lining!
My photographs don't do it justice but I hope they will portray the area in a better light. Our allotments are out of site at the top of the cliffs. As you can imagine they are very well drained!
I have a sneaking feeling that even some of the locals don't realise this beauty is right on there doorstep! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
