  • Lifes simple pleasures

You know when you have those moments of pure sweet happiness? When the sheer joy of it all bathes you in a golden glow there?
It can be anything from the blue tits making you laugh like a drain to being there for a rich golden sunrise. Often just the heady delight of a first flower or your first fruit on something you've grown from seed. To mark it and hold it as precious is the same to me as having a rain barrel in a drought.
Today for me it was the beaming joy on the face of my tidgy 1 year old grandson as he came through my door and later the sheer fun of seeing him take his first two steps ever.

So: What are your simple pleasures?

Hi PT, so glad for your enjoyment today!! Hope I have a few years to wait for my granchildren to take their first steps though - eldest son got his NI number today and I just sat wondering where the time goes!

My simple pleasures are watching the birds squabbling over the fat balls and waiting for my elderly pony to eat his dinner. I always loved the sounds of the stables full of ponies and goats munching their hay on a cold, wet, winter evening. I call those sort of things 'taking time to watch the flowers grow', OH gets so stressed about life and I keep telling him to just stop and watch and listen - otherwise, what is the point?!

        Happy thoughts to all.
        Happy Gardening,
        Shirley

Cuddles from my daughter, watching the rabbit doing her leapy, twisty thing around the garden, the excitement of seeing those first signs of lovingly tended seeds germinating and popping their heads over the top of the compost, and (sorry about this PT) damn good dark chocolate that melts on your tongue and spreads it's flavour around your mouth. Sunrises and sunsets in all their glorious colours. Rough seas (from the safety of shore) and the smell of hot tarmac when it rains. The smell of fresh lavender or rosemary when you brush against it.

I think you can get the idea.
          Bright Blessings

Having mad conversations with my littlun (doing anything with her really)
            Walking dog on frosty mornings
            Boiled duck eggs with soldiers
            A nice glass of red
The smell of fresh mown grass
            this list is not exhaustive...

Seen a red squirrel run up a tree today. Only the second one i've ever seen in my life! People were going by and giving me funny looks as I was just mesmerised by it. It could have been I was standing in the middle of the road at the time though!

Lying in bed on a Sunday morning when I don't have to go to work and the rain is lashing against the bedroom window! Snuggled up in bed like a bug in a rug.
Watching and listening to my dog cleaning herself, licking her paws and gnawing at the long hairs between her toes. Very theraputic, like a cat purring! Watching her chase rabbits and knowing thats she's nine year old and never caught one yet, but still keeps trying!

The little things. The magic in everything.

Seeing how happy my friend is with her new baby - and I don't even like kids!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

All of the above (but not all at the same time )and standing chest deep in the middle of a river with a fishing rod with a fresh sea run salmon on the end of the line.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

flying kites; just you and the wind, bliss.
also watching the ducks do there "oh golly its morning what should we do" dance every day, running around like headless chickens flapping and squaking, always makes me laugh.
rainbows/ after rain smell/ cuddling under a blanket after a long walk in the cold or rain.

There could be a rude connotation to that as well!!! Good job Nic's not about! Or is it just my mind? LOL
