We don't do cats in this neighbourhood - there are 7 dogs between our house and our neighbours on each side !
So will not be able to blame them for any infernal racket emanating from Iona's room - hopefully she'll be a natural and pick it up really quickly - hopefully!

We've got Guitar Hero on the wii - does that count?

Every sympathy with you SR - my friend was learning the fiddle when she was at school, her parents couldn't cope with the din and made her stop.

we are currently trying to convince our youngest that the guitar or piano is a better choice than the violin, which is what she wants to learn.

middle daughter plays piano quite well, its now a pleasure to hear her sometimes.

i have every sympathy with you Rat.

I know that you are not all deadly serious but patience please. We all have to start somewhere and if we never try we shall never find out those things which we are good at. As one who teaches small children to play the trumpet, and other brass instruments, and whose daughter is a violinist in a London orchestra, I plead for forbearance. It may sound awful to start with but there may be a special talent hiding in there.

If she has a good teacher she will be playing "Twinkle twinkle little star" proficiently within a week or so..... and then she will continue to play the same tune at the start of every session.........

George has been playing guitar for 3 years now and is pretty good, Rosie though always wants to compete with her recorder, I just hate the sound of the recorder (even if it was played in tune!), and now she is saying she would like to learn the violin. My poor head!
                              Sympathies Ratty!
