The girl child is sixteen and just finishing her exams. To try and give greater independance we bought her a motorbike (moped) so she can get about without the need to wait for buses and originally so she would be able to get to places other kids have problems with in an aid to get a Saturday job.
Well with the current job market, people are just not taking on school kids at present.
So she decided that she would like to take a stall at the local Saturday market. She looked around to see what was selling and cheap for set up costs and decided on selling sweets. On the idea that lots of parents would be likely to give their kids 50p-£1 to stop them whining.
Off she went to see the operator but when she got there they have just taken on a "sweetie" man but she said that if he stopped coming, then would they give her a ring and she would take over.
She was a bit gutted but went straight back on tinternet and found suppliers of hair products (grips, head bands etc) that she thought would be ideal for teenagers and younger adults. Did the sums and decided there could be profit there.
"Dad, you know you love me and you want me to get on? Could I borrow some money for stock?"
Well what could I say? Also took her out to my old stock and she has found some jewellery etc I had left over that she thought would be OK till she could afford more stock of her own.
Rang the operator and has got a stall as from Saturday 20th.
Now I only have to work on her to find the joys of gardening.
