Yeah really!
Got a heck of a sore bum (and head).
Was biking along, as you do, this car in front of me (facing me) was indicating to turn right ... but he decided not to wait.
I went over bonnet and slithered to the tarmac. Not very graceful, by all accounts. Got lots of attention from passers-by, which was nice, and the ambulance staff were lovely.
Police were ... same old same old. "he says he didn't see you".
me: "how could he not see me? I was right in his line of vision ... his windscreen"
them: "well it's your word against his"
I HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY! HE DIDN'T !! (see photos - it's taken from my position, and the white car is positioned where he was indicating to turn right)
I reckon he just tried to nip ahead of me and misjudged my speed, but the police "couldn't prove it".
So, lots of bruising and the bike might be written off (don't know yet, I had to leave it behind) but it could have been a lot worse. The driver is willing to pay any damages (until he learns it's an £800 hand built bike, that is).
What makes me really despair is the attitude of "oh, cyclists. Serves them right" when in fact if I'd been a child crossing the road, people would be Up In Arms about it.
