Yeah, but you're a geek like me I reckon we're the exception rather than the rule.
Mine's synched - numbers are also stored on my PDA.
Can't remember the last time I looked up someone's number other than a business. I can honestly say that I don't know anyone that has either.
Very few people am I in touch with just via their mobile - either have their email address, contact them through Bookface, or I actually see them in the flesh from time to time.
Don't use the directory service to look up personal landlines, so won't for mobiles. Don't have landline listed in directory, so won't have mobile.
I'm making my mobile ex-directory for the same reason my landline is. Justin.
It will not help you. modern dialers you put in a area code 0208 then it will dial the next seven numbers starting from 000 0001 up to what ever you want.
Then drops you then put in any exceptions and off it goes...
You may be exdir but you will still get a call.
My phone has more Processing power than the Computers NASA used to fake the Moon Landings

Seemples.
It makes great sense to sync, either with your laptop or PDA.
I'm just thinking of the one in a million, the guy who's taken the train up from London to Manchester for a business meeting, just misses his train coming back, finds his mobile is out of juice and hasn't got another note of OH's mobile number. Know's OH is out visiting clients too today and was supposed to be meeting him at the station.
An artificial example I know, but I guess I'm playing a bit of Devil's Advocate on this as I think people are getting their knickers in a twist about nothing. When I first heard it mentioned on BBC Breakfast yesterday I was horrified, but then I did a bit of research on the 'net and realised that it's a bit of a storm in a teacup.
BTW my landline is ex-directory and also registered with TPS. But as NOG said that doesn't protect you against predictive diallers
There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

I must be quite lucky then - can't remember the last time we were cold-called.
They were four very good questions though - very thought-provoking. I've now looked up my iphone's instructions and I know how to back it up. I didn't even realise it could be backed up.
Thanks Hot Stuff!
