On a more serious note here's 3 questions:
a) Do you know the actual phone numbers of the top 10 people you phone from your mobile? (as opposed to looking up their name and hitting "dial")
b) Do you regularly back up the contents of your mobile's directory?
c) Do you always remember to charge your phone?
Can you see where I'm going with this? There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Can't remember the last time I looked up someone's number other than a business. I can honestly say that I don't know anyone that has either.
Very few people am I in touch with just via their mobile - either have their email address, contact them through Bookface, or I actually see them in the flesh from time to time.
Don't use the directory service to look up personal landlines, so won't for mobiles. Don't have landline listed in directory, so won't have mobile.

I'm just thinking of the one in a million, the guy who's taken the train up from London to Manchester for a business meeting, just misses his train coming back, finds his mobile is out of juice and hasn't got another note of OH's mobile number. Know's OH is out visiting clients too today and was supposed to be meeting him at the station.
An artificial example I know, but I guess I'm playing a bit of Devil's Advocate on this as I think people are getting their knickers in a twist about nothing. When I first heard it mentioned on BBC Breakfast yesterday I was horrified, but then I did a bit of research on the 'net and realised that it's a bit of a storm in a teacup.
BTW my landline is ex-directory and also registered with TPS. But as NOG said that doesn't protect you against predictive diallersThere are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.
