10's before 9

Yep I did it, I well and truly put me size 10's in 'it' before it had even got to 9'o'clock this morning managing to pee the hubby off just as he left for work.

A very touchy subject in our house is each others driving and the family car. I stupidly mentioned I must be a bit nervous about the Mobile Mechanic coming today as I dreampt about it last night. This launched OH into a lecture about how I must look after the car and if I didn't he's decided the next one will be a Belingo.

Instead of taking it on the chin and letting it go over my head, I STUPIDLY pointed out that he was driving when it went into a very deep pot hot and then a few weeks later, when it went up the kirb. Neither of which I actually care about, I just didn't like being told to be more careful with it.

Should've kept quiet.

We have these on a daily basis - not always about cars....it's part of the banter.

As long as I smile after and see him off with a big kiss, he is usually ok.

As I point out - if I am railing against him, it's because I love him. If I stop railing and being nice, then he needs to worry.

Yes sometimes it is far better to just let things go.

A lot of my work now involves escalated customer problems and while I am very good most of the time having people rant over something they want but is not in the contract, there are times when I have got a bit snotty to them and laid down the fact that their cock up is not my emergency.

Just chill a bit, at the end of the day you know that you look after the car and smirk.

Steve and I have little disagreements about stuff, and boy can he sulk sometimes!! We think we banter, but my BIL says listening to us drives him mad cos to him we are jsut bickering

I've learnt not to have a conversation about anything non-essential in a morning as me and the OH are both bad 'morning people' and likely to be snappy for no good reason...

He was using it as an 'incentive' (threat) to treat the current car better........"If you don't look after this one, the next will be a Berlingo......" type thing. He knows that I don't like them as his work van is a Berlingo and I call it the tincan after accidently leaving a dent in the side.

My reply to that would have been 'well why don't you just get a bloody tank and have done with it, then you can drive in/up all the potholes/kerbs you want?'

I really don't know when to shut up sometimes.........

This just reminds me how lucky I am that my car is just that - mine, bought for me by my mum before she died. OH has no say whatsoever over it, and very rarely even drives it... And even if it was the 'family car' he certainly wouldn't be able to choose (or threaten to choose) what it was without any input from me

OH and I bicker all the time, we don't even notice we're doing it, but the kids HATE it and seem to think we're having a proper row. You'd think they'd have learned after all these years, but we have to tone it down in front of them. Fortunately OH does seem to think it's the norm so doesn't get offended. People often think it's a little weird though when one of us manages a particularly good come-back and we both collapse laughing.

The reply to the effect of "It wasn't me that broke it this time" seems perfectly reasonable to me, but I suspect I would have been too flabberghasted to say it!
Must admit I like out Kangoo (a bit like a Berlingo) but that is because it is so practical for what we need, plenty of space for dogs etc, and ours is 4x4 for the times we need to go on unmade roads.

You guys crack me up - you're completely hair mousy (hilarious) and I mean that most sincerely. I particular liked the tank one. Very cute answer.

Happily it's all resolved now. I txted him to explain I wasn't trying to blame anyone and he admitted to being a bit grumpy this morning (cronic bad back so understandable). Bickering isn't something we do - it doesn't work for us but I can appreciate it in others. Besides the Bambina is too young to understand anything than the tone of voice and she gets upset.

The Mobile Mec checked the car and found the suspension is broken on drivers side, so no idea how it happened (really!!) and the knocking was coming from the passinger side so quite odd. Luckily we're splitting the cost between us (proper truce) so it's not that bad.
