  • Just a quick thank you

A thought struck me just this morning.

I've received a number of gifts, donations etc to help along with the gardening and such, but have given very little back by comparison - which makes me feel somewhat guilty.

I would just like to publicly say a big thank you to all those who have been generous toward me in the past - you know who you are. It is most appreciated.

Hopefully once I am a bit more established as a gardener/parent, I can return the kindness.

I'm not keen on feeling indebted.

    Would anyone like a bench?

You shouldn't have asked that! I hope you have an endless supply of pallets because everyone's going to say 'YES' !

Anyway - you're not indebted. The gracious acceptance of a gift honours the giver.
Someone said that. Other than me, that is. I like it though.

Whenever I give something (sadly, I haven't given anything to you!), I do it because it makes me feel warm inside, knowing I've helped someone. That's return enough for me. I wouldn't feel indebted, if I were you. There will come a time when others need your help and you'll give it willingly. That's what generosity is all about.

That's exactly how I feel about it, it's like a merry-go-round of happiness - just keep passing it on

I haven't had the chance to give anything to you, but you have given me so much in your posts! I enjoy your humour and just love the bench!

On a serious note - if anyone wants a bench I'm happy to make one. Providing you pick it up you can have it gratis. The pallets don't cost me anything, and I bought a tub of 250 screws for about £7, and they take about an hour and a half to build (maybe quicker now I have a template - the prototype was made on the hoof).

providing you don't want them in a hurry of course!

Accept the gifts graciously Hey Wayne.
It doesn't matter if the gift is a 2d stamp or a 1st class cruise to New York.
The gracious acceptance of the gift really does honour the giver.
Sadly in todays world I sometimes wonder if people understand the concepts of grace and honour.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Wayne, I've got lots from the humour and wisdom in your posts. Also, I've enjoyed the photos of Hayden and hearing about his progress.

                          HeyWayne

It is a good feeling to give things that you have a glut of or have no further need of and I have given a few things away on here but it has been marred a couple of times.

However I don't suppose that it will stop me from doing again, the majority of people on here are genuine folks.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I think the quotation is from Japan or China. It does have a sort of Confucian ring about it.
