  • My neighbour cooks and eats potato leaves!!!

My next door neighbour but one came round this evening to look at the garden. When she saw the potato leaves, she said 'do you use them?'. I said I just composted them, whereupon she asked if she could have some as her family eat them as well as the stems. I asked her if she was sure, as to my knowledge they were poisonous. She said that she's always eaten them and come to no harm and her family, who are from Bangladesh, also eat them. They put them in stews and curries. I again said that I thought they were poisonous and she said it was fine and could she pick some, so I shrugged and off she went and picked a bag full, leaving very happy and thanked me very much.

Now I'm worried I've poisoned my neighbour but I did try and warn her

    Anyone else heard of this?

Naturally I will go round and inform her again but there's little I can do if she won't listen

Okay I've just caught neighbour in her front garden and told her she shouldn't eat them and that they are definitely poisonous. Fortunately she rang her mum to tell her about what she had picked and she told her not to eat them. Apparently they used to eat them years ago before they knew they were poisonous. Well thank God for that, spud poisoning averted!!

Hmmmm...someone tell the blinkking chickens they're poisonous! they were stripping the leaves as they grew out from the roll-down compost bag!
Ended up rolling bag up and putting in some garden wire mesh in to keep the blighters out! Thankfully, the potatoes are now untouched!
