I'm sorry to say that they do round these 'ere parts......
No.1 son has been collecting snails for a few days to cook for us in a week - several friends have suggested adding slugs to the bucket. Apparently they are just as good (!?) but a bit more chewy..............
      They need to be sliced.

(I may need to be away in a week)

I've just remembered my friends little boy once licking a foaming slug...first we knew of it was when we noticed his frothy lips!!!...even worse than Ash sucking on a worm!

I listened from behind a cushion with OH explaining the action. I still retched and retched.
Not going to go on his menu in that cafe are they!? No-one liked them!

I did take his advice on snails once and came to the conclusion that if I were ever starving or craving protein I would eat them again. Slugs though? I would have to be really desperate.
I do agree on his son, a credit to his upbringing. Does anyone have the River Cottage book with the picture of him eating beetroot? You could see there what a lovely person he would become.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeew! It was pretty gross to watch straight after tea but something compelled me to watch it, God knows why! He must have a stomache like a horse to eat what he does

Don't think I could ever, ever face eating them. Nor snails.

What didn't help was that earlier in the week, I'd been watchin Bear Grylls' programme - whilst on his adventure he found some slugs to eat & took great pains to explain that they usually caused food poisoning because of the bacteria in their guts - so he gutted them & boiled them, & declared them 'disgusting'. And STILL got food poisoning.

So no WAY will I be doing a Hugh with my slugs!!
Many people have eaten in my kitchen & gone on to lead normal, healthy lives.

I watched the Catch Up of this just about an hour ago. Seriously, the rest of the recipe seemed lovely - why would you add slugs to it? Especially when, as HFW said, they normally feed them to the chickens.

I felt sick watching it and I felt there was a hint of desperation about it - like, looking for shock value to bring a twist to the show.
