My son is gone to Stonehenge for the Solstice. I'd love to go there, but I guess it'll be really crowded.

Innit great though, Midsummer - wherever we are.

May everyone have a good one.

I'll be watching the sun come up at the lottie, when I go and let the chickens out... but then I do that every morning. We always have a Solstice Celebration, but it will be tomorrow night, I host the summer one, my friend hosts the winter one.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I was at stonehenge for this a few times in the early 70s. It was quite magical. I gather it's like visiting the tower of london in the summer season now. Lots of stewards in orange boilersuits with "have a nice trip"-courtesy of Coka Cola, on the back. Like everything natural and sacred in the country it's been protected and managed into corporate meaninglessness.

A tesco's carpark is a more tranqil and emotional place to witness the solstice nowdays

How else would you protect the monument and the landscape when 36500 people turn up? Just assume everyone is only there for 'peace and love'?

I had a wander round at about 3.30am. looking for a good spot to witness sunrise peacefully. Finished up in the middle of a field, but it was too cloudy to witness the sunrise.
Did see a strange sight on the edge of a wood though.......two grown ups and a child just standing still at a vantage point that must have been special to them.......
