I had acupuncture once, but when I got home, my wax doll had died !
    (With apologies for dreadful joke)
The best of luck to you.

Glad we can make you feel a bit better, can you possible afford to pay for acupuncture? I did it for mine the second time, the first was on the NH, done by the physios and it was as if they saw it worked but didn't really believe it. Going privately I went to someone who had been trained thoroughly and understood and believed in what he was doing. I only needed three sessions, he was very good and no way was he going to make me keep going when I didn't need it. It really is worth seeing if you can afford it.
      Best wishes.

Hi Lou, i can really sympathise with you my sister was a nurse and hurt her back when at work because they didn't supply a hoist for her to lift the patients, like you she was then unable to work and in awful pain. I really hope you get better soon and that you are able to do your garden again. Take care.x

I was in the queue for a massage and the Reiki woman was free so I had a go.

WOW...she didnt talk to me or touch me but just laid her hands over me. then told me about the problems that I have and then said you don't stand correctly when you are at your allotment......

I wasn't in my gardening stuff...I had washed so I didn't smell of manure..how did she know?????

I'm so sorry you have gone through what you have gone through the only thing I can say is keep going many of us have been where you are

Similar to your self I have had a health problems that has not properly been diagnosed. they can tell what it isn't (spine problems and parts of stomach removed) The hospital prescribed me Liquid Morphine and told me to live with it

being layed off on health grounds feels like a kick in the teeth when you are already down
it happened to me 2 years ago and although I knew i was going to happen I still spent several weeks a wreck

The only thing I can say is try to see the positives and try to forget the negatives (easier said than done) instead of knowing I can't work, I stay thankful that im seeing my children grow up,

I have adapted my garden and my lifestyle

I have raised beds around the edge of my back garden which means

                a. the garden is higher which is easier to plant, weed and harvest.

                b. I can set my self achieveable targets ( each bed is 6ft by 4ft) so weeding just one bed in a day is achieveable it is noticeable compared to weeding a normal veg garden that only looks good when finished

ive also taken to growing fruit and veg in wall troughs, and hanging baskets the neighbours thought i was mad when they saw tomato plants growing from the hanging baskets

its easier for me to water as I have installed hose pipes with seep hoses (home made) in all the beds

I set my self small but achieveable targets and give myself days to complete and I have learned not to beat myself up if I am unable to complete them

Im now registered as disabled and in the short term I know I won't be going back to work for a long while i have my garden as my sanctuary

hopefully the pain clinic will let you manage the pain and stop the pain managing you
and if it is long long term ( hopefully its not) I have had mixed result with them

Always talk about problems don't hide them having a long term health problem is similar to grieving, you have to let go of what you had and take from what you still have

Make the most of each day, make a point of remembering the good and forgetting the bad

Always try to smile or make someone else smile because a smile is contagious

and finally don't take your frustration out on loved ones take it out on the weeds and Slugs or by shouting at the fruit and veg, beans have broad shoulder and can take it (at least broad beans do)

                Take care
                Take it easy
                and keep going
                best wishes

Hi just a bit of a update, not been on for a while so i haven't seen some of the replies, thank you for all of your kind words, they really do make you feel better when you are feeling very low.

Had my injections at the hospital and they weren't has bad as i thought they would be(thank god) i asked for my back to be numbed so i couldn't feel it, but did....lol
Instead of having 2 injections, i ended up having 4 and the last one they nearly had to get me off the ceiling cos it hurt quite a lot.
That was 2 weeks ago and the surgoen said to me that he had injected some steriods into my back to ease the pain.
But to be honest i think that i'm in more pain.

I've started to go to aquacise, and it's wonderful to be able to move quite freely, in the water.
Last week i was so pleased with myself as i had lost 10lbs in weight.
                          Not bad for a month.

Been given some more tablets and they seem to be working a bit better, than the ones that i were on before, i'm now taking 15 tablets a day....
                          It's a wonder i don't rattle with all the tablets i take.

Not got to go back to the hospital till november, so i will have to wait till then to see what's gonna happen next.

Thank you again for your kind words and support, what a great site and what great people.

                          xxx

Hi just an update to how i'm feeling....still in the dark about what is wrong with me!!

Started my acupunture on monday and since then i've been in horrendus pain, got to go again on monday for my second lot, but to be honest don't think that will work.
I'm on a load of new tablets that seem to be helping me a little but not taking the pain away at all.

I've decided because i've been off for a while now 18 months to be exact. i'm bored at home, so i've been to my local college and i'm gonna do a nail course to take my mind off being ill......i hope it does....lol

I still have bad days but i'm having a few good days too, which is different to when i first posted about my health. I just would like a pain free day and be my old self again, i can always hope.

Thank you for reading you've all been a good help during my illness.

                              xx
