I found a toad, or rather my dog did.

Think he was hiding between my cuke and aubergine as i was repotting cuke into final pot that he made an apperance........ i've left him be and put up a make shift barrier to keep the dog away. I think he's come from next doors pond...... was wondering why slugs seem to have stopped attacking
My little ladybird still on the sunflowers....... 3 days now.... how long do ladybirds live???
And seen about 6 bumble bee's today ( or maybe just the same 1.... 6 times?? )

There's a toad living under the pallets in my feed room at the field. He's been there a couple of years now and every so often, we catch him by surprise. I even got a little toad cuddle the other day, as he was sat on top of my grooming kit (and wasn't quick enough - ha!).

I've seen loads of bees and ladybirds this year. Trouble is, they aren't the only insects loving the better weather. Pesky horseflies are thriving, too!!

well i have found two in my garden, either toad or frog, they are large though! which is good as now the veggies are all out today, i dont want them to be eaten, my neighbour has a large pond so hoping they all pop over to me for a slugfest loL!

I have a toad that lives on my lottie, I find him when I move planks or anything providing a hideyhole, I'm it worried that it's getting too tidy and he won't find anywhere to live. I've also got slow worms that live under two pieces of corrugated iron I leave in the sun for them.

we have had the odd frog in the garden, but stoopid dog eats them so havent seen any live ones for a while

Back in the UK one of my cats used to 'play' with the poor things...never ate them...but just loved how they squealed when under threat!!! ( could have been frogs actually!)

My sister's cats in the UK do the same thing Nicos, although her cats actually do eat them. When there were cats living in my house I dont ever remember seeing a frog/toad bought in to show us.
Any manner of gods creatures, including memorably a snakes head (yup just its head) but I dont think they ever chased the frogs and toads, and there are loads of them here.

yup...got huge glacial granite boulders here....and the locals say they are perfect for snakes hibernating....give me toads any day!!!!!

Not many cats or dogs will bother a second toad! Unlike frogs, toads have a mild (and disgusting) toxin in those little 'warts' all over their skin. When scared or scratched they release toxin, and predators get a mouthful of horrible taste......
Any idea what sort of snakes Nicos?
Our place in Spain (sounds posh, it ain't<g>) gets visits from a Horseshoe Whipsnake. Non poisonous, but its preferred prey is lizards, and I want my lizards left alone (the only cockroaches I have ever seen out there were being munched by lizards).
