  • Does anyone watch...

Its not easy being Green (bbc2 tonight at 8pm). Its about a families attempt to go self sufficient. Haven't seen it yet, just wondered if it was worth a look

Is this a repeat / update on the one from earlier in the year with the family down Cornwall way (father had wicked facial hair!)? or a totally new series? The original was dead good although way over what most of us could manage - they had a lot of land and managed to provide their own electricity - think they has a couple of wind turbines. Anyway, if it's the same thing then can recommend it.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I agree with Alison, if it's Dick (and not many people on tv can boast wicked facial hair so I'm pretty sure it's him) and his family, it's a great watch. Raises some interesting points and the family are great enetertainment generally.

Me too, Mrs D, I'm not sure but I think it is a repeat. Tonights episode says the water wheel is taking shape.

I don't look for these programs but since people at work have found out about my lottie, they tell me whats on.

This is the one with the totally mad "Rupert" think he was RA which would explaing a lot.

He makes mad inventions....on one of this series he builds his Greenhouse over a bed of broken glass then rigs up a PC fan Via a solar cell to pump the hot daytime air out of the green house into the glass cooling the greenhouse, then when the sun goes in the fan stops and the heat is released through the floor heating the green house for free over night, and it worked.

I think we must get different programmes in Scotland. I couldn't find it. Very disappointed.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

It was very enjoyable but most of it wasn't relevant to me. I live in a flat so haven't got room for a water wheel, or a roof for solar panels but I enjoyed it all the same.

Next week looks to be more about the veg patch so will definately watch it again. Although it did make me aspire to something. Maybe one day when I move abroad...

Anyone else here from Wales. For some reason the BBC have decided that there are no gardeners in wales.I can only get BBC2(Wales) digital, and so programmes like Gardeners World are replaced by the delights of rugby or highlights of the ever popular Welsh Premier League. In fact any thing remotely of interest is replaced by some drivel and are simply not shown. This was yet another programme which was replaced by a programme called The Vicar of Bari (no idea what that was about but somehow dont think I missed a classic).

Sorry for the late reply, I caught the prog, thought immediately that I recognised 'Dick', and was right in identifying him from the Scrapheap Challenge series of a few years ago, he competed with 2 of his brothers, all of whom were in the army! I thought he was great in that, so very happy to see him in 'Its not easy being green!'

Love the house, have to agree with his sentiments and ethos and on the whole would be doing something similar if funds were available for us to do so! Looking forwards to next weeks episode!
