We're sort of in the middle of the country - but we have a garden room with a spare sofa bed if he needs somewhere near Derby - it has a turntable and lots of old records in it to boot.

Thanks so much for the replies guys an' gals... Shirls always said this is a friendly forum and it has proved (again!) that it is! I asked Shirls to post this for me as most of you know her, not me! She said, "No, you post it", but being of a shy and delicate disposition I begged and grovelled for my dear heart to bale me out. Again...

I am in Birmingham for another 2 1/2 hours and then I am off to Bristol (where I am based) for a few days. My line manager (whom I have known for about 11 years now) is rambling on about me going back to Manchester and Leeds next week to reconnect some fibre optic STM-1's... ((yawn)) So When the time comes I shall graciously ask for a cupboard under the stairs!!

My job previously took me to Holland where I met Momol (where are you now Nevi?) in Limburg and this could be a good opportunity to meet fellow grapes in the UK.

Thanks again for your kind offers... And I will be in touch soon.

                  Martin

Wayne - at 4am I am dead! No use to man or beast... I couldn't feed myself at 4am, let alone a baby!

An Orange switch centre... Most are red brick but as they get older the red turns an orange colour. Bit of rust as well on the RSJ's you see. Hence the name.

Actually, Orange being the operator and a switch centre is where all the telecomm equipment is, the 'exchanges', billing servers, subscription data servers, RNC's, media gateways (these allow internet from your mobile) and BSC's... Racks and racks of boring kit with flashing LED's and fans keeping the stuff cool. Not enviormentally friendly kit at all. But we all crave our mobiles...
