My next trick for getting (and staying) in here

I've just created a partition on my hard drive and plan to load and run XP on that - thereby having Vista for work and XP (which seems to like Vine!) running next to one another.

Bet you didn't know I was clever as well as - erm, all the other things

Anyway, can anyone see why I shouldn't do this, what might I come up against etc etc - is there another way??!!?

One thing you should give me is 11½ out of 10 for persisting with this traumatic dilemma

Having closed Outlook (I never, ever ever close OL) whilst doing dangerous stuff without a safety harness - I am noticing Vine is loading super quick and not sticking

Now, is this current speed pf Vine loading down to the partitioning I have just carried or is there a conflict between OL and Vine

indeed we is talking dual-booting, but whilst I have carved up the HD I haven't gotten around to the dual stuff yet - mainly cos I'm in awe of the speed from having closed OL - or maybe this is just (yet again) another one of those teasing things!

I blame Dave, he is blocking me - I can tell......

Depends on the version of Outlook but minimizing it rather than running it full screen can reduce the memory requirements used by Outlook up to 90%.

PS you do mean Outlook as part of Microsoft Office and not Outlook Express (free with Windows).

I use Microsoft Office Outlook for my email and have it open all the time. I can't say I have ever noticed it slowing the vine so think it may be co-incidence Piskie

Does depend on the version, some versions of Outlook "used to" require files from Outlook Express and IE.

I wouldn't have thought so, what version of Outlook are you using, can be found by going to (in Outlook) Help > About >
top line (including version number and service pack), also if you go to Tools > Options > Other > are the check boxes under Person Names (at the bottom) checked.

It should say more than 2007, it should have the version number and service pack and are the checkboxes checked on Tools > Options > Other > under persons name, if you want to take this offline I think Andrea sent you my email address.

Mine is version 2003 because I hate the Office 2007 that came with my new pooter so did a fallback to the version I understand

Not quite up to date but you are probably only missing some Junk Email updates, unchecking those boxes under person names "may" speed up Outlook, those two boxes being checked interact with IM (presence information in emails etc) and have been known to cause issues, not all the time and not for everybody
