I just wanted to say thank you to you both - Piskie for persisting in trying to get on the Vine, we love you and miss you when you aren't here

And TEB you are a complete star for trying to solve this, we love you too

It has to be in there, I just checked here and a cookie is created when you browse to the vine, you are not looking via the bottom of the vodka glass

Now that is very strange unless you are blocking cookies, can you in IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced > is Override Automatic cookie handling checked.

We could put an entry into the Host file, this file maps hostnames to IP address so we would map Grow Your Own Magazine - GYO Growing & How To Grow Vegetables tomatoes & fruit from your garden - Tips on Growing to its IP address of 212.227.55.26 but could you do a ping of Grow Your Own Magazine - GYO Growing & How To Grow Vegetables tomatoes & fruit from your garden - Tips on Growing first, to do this go to Start > Accessories > right click command prompt and select run as administrator > when command prompt opens type at the cursor:
ping Grow Your Own Magazine - GYO Growing & How To Grow Vegetables tomatoes & fruit from your garden - Tips on Growing > press enter
Can you paste the output here, I am particularly interested in the times, this way we can check to see if what was done previously has had any affect.
PS the vine changes the URL address on posting, so you need to change what the vine has underlined to its web address

I've managed to avoid Vista so far, but have 'dual boot' XP and 98 (hardly ever use 98, but did when partition was created). 98 uses 'drive C', XP uses 'drive D', but can access files stored on C no problem. 98 cannot access D at all.......

OK TEB - I am going to try this on two different machines, one with XP, one with Vista, both running out of the same hub (at the moment)

                        Here is first result:
                        Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
                        C:\WINDOWS>ping www.growfruitandveg.co.uk
Pinging www.growfruitandveg.co.uk [212.227.55.26] with 32 bytes of data:
                        Reply from 212.227.55.26: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=47
                        Reply from 212.227.55.26: bytes=32 time=43ms TTL=47

                        Reply from 212.227.55.26: bytes=32 time=42ms TTL=47
                        Ping statistics for 212.227.55.26:
                        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
                        Minimum = 42ms, Maximum = 44ms, Average = 43ms

I will enter the Vista (my usual machine) very shortly as it is almost completing a system scan

OMG that is even worse than the first time, I would like you to check what state auto tuning is, remember we disabled this but I am wondering if it has reset it self, you need to open a command prompt (run as administrator), can you then type this "netsh interface tcp show global" without the quotes > press Enter, can you copy the outut please.
