    I picked this beauty today it measures 9cm and tasted lovely..whats your longest bean...

    That's 9 inches! 9cm is less than 4 inches, which'd be a bit weedy for a french bean!

    Hope I get a few like that: mine are just coming into flower.

      I have no intention of letting them get 'competitive' long. They taste so good picked immature!
      Maybe towards the end of the season I will let some ripen fully, but not at present.
      Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

        I'm another 'small is beautiful' person - in bean terms anyway. My first french beans have only just started to flower so no beans for me for a couple of weeks at least.
        Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
