Found another old school pal on FB, who now lives in Washington DC (g1t!). He's put up some pics of his garden and from two pics I not only identified the plant, but THE VARIETY!!!!

Think that's bad?! I used to sell tiles (ceramics, for sticking on wall and floors) for a living (pre-children), and I can still walk into just about any pub toilet or friend's bathroom and name the tiles on the wall
Being a gardening geek is much more useful
