Sorry for rehashing a possibly rather tired argument:re how the sexes deal with their ailments,but after my chat with a friend today,I really couldn't resist!!!
Her female friend has recently been off work with a dose of "Summer cold",wasn't until after she'd had her two days of "getting on with it"& then deemed herself fit to go back to work that a male colleague came down with the same thing...swine flu was diagnosed
As she'd been poorly prior to his diagnosis she was swabbed also...turns out her minor Summer cold was in fact Swine Flu also!!!!

I have to admit to be FAR worse when I'm ill than my other half.

When I'm ill everyone knows it, I may struggle on and get on with things but I moan and moan and moan! I'm prone to a dose or two of hypochondria too!

I guess there has to be an exception to the rule!

Our neighbour in Orkney was Norwegian, and one of her favourite phrases was "taking it like a man", and her meaning was the 'manflu' version<g>
My own observation is that men tend to be 'dying' with a cold that we females would hardly notice as more than a nuisance, but if it is REALLY serious (especially if it is injury rather than infection), and time to see the doctor, they carry on regardless (but expect to be priased for fortitude while doing so).
My theory is that women nearly always have someone ELSE to look after (a child or a man usually), so the health of the dependant is more important than our own, while men have other concerns, but not 'other's health', so they don't get distracted from it the same way.

Well I have to say that my OH must be a strong man because he's never had a headache in his life.......countless migraines, suspected brain tumours and impending strokes, but never a headache.

Yes i.e. man flu, re your second question then no idea, this was a daily mail article and I am surprised that they could spell research let alone write an article about it.

If the symptoms are less, then he has no excuse for 'dying' (as all too many males seem to believe is happening). He won't be feeling as ill. The article has slightly missed the point there....
